Hi, I will be in Phoenix AZ this summer and all previous posts regarding good smoker-friendly spots around Phoenix in this forum topic seem to date before infamous tobacco bans rolled-in. Can anyone give me an update on:
- how severe and how much enforced are the smoking bans,
- if all public parks are no-go,
- if hotels have now all non-smoking rooms only
- Where are the good shops and spots to light-up indoors if any ?

Your help is appreciated,

Regards,

try the outdoor patio at the Devil's Martini. It is an awesome place with a great happy hour deal.

A funny story now that I think about it....
I was having a cigar at the outside bar here and a couple of uptight ladies sat down next to me and my group. A few minutes later the one lady taps me on the shoulder and asks me to direct my smoke in a different direction. I smiled and told her I would try my best. She made several ignorant comments to her friend in such a way that she wanted me to here. I told her that I was sitting there for an hour before she showed up and would probably be sitting there for atleast an hour more. She turned to the bar tender and asked "Isn't there a smoking ban?" the bartender kindly told her that the ban did not prohibit outdoor smoking. She then asked the bartender if the owner of the bar allowed cigar smoke at the bar. The bartender grinned at me and then said, "Ma'am, not only do we allow cigar smoke at the outdoor bar, but we recommend and encourage it. I can bring you a cigar list of what we offer if you like." with that she paid her bill and left.

Great place and I would highly recommend it.

as for cigar shops I went to this one and they had a nice event going on with free food, booze, and cigars if you bought like $50 in smokes. Cool place: http://www.ambassadorfinecigars.com/

otherwise here is a list on google maps :

Can't answer all your questions, but here are some good spots to pickup cigars and enjoy a smoke.

- Scottsdale Cigars (101 and Frank Lloyd Wright). Great prices, very good selection, owner is just a stand-up guy. This is my primary B&M. They have a nice lounge to smoke.

- Ambassador Cigars (Tatum and Cactus). There is no B&M shop in Arizona with more of a selection. Prices are a little high, but the shop is imaculate, and the selection is incredible. Every kind of tatuaje brand you can think of is here.

- Magnums (7th St and Union Hills). Only place that I am aware of that is 50/50 (cigar shop and bar). The owner fought long and hard to keep the bar open. He won the suit, and now you can buy a cigar and enjoy a drink (inside). The drink selection is outstanding, cigar selection is ok. The bar is very nice.

Hi Gump and riorocks,

I'm watching this post, as I love AZ! I live in Los Angeles, and every year during the summer, I visit the Four Seasons Scottsdale for R & R. Love the surroundings, the desert and the greater Phoenix area.

Thanks for the info!

I may be too late to help you. A great humidor and lounge can be found at Stag Tobacconists. Location is Dunlap and Black Canyon Freeway (I-17).

Enjoy!
