I'm curious as to what people are doing about flying & taking your torch with you? Bics and matches just don't get it for me, and I sure don't want to lose my torch. Thanks!

colibri has created a case you can your lighter in and carry it with you in your checked bags

Zippo has a case for their lighters too, just in case anyone uses one.

Otterbox, O(not sure of the website) makes cases for some torches.

To be honest I either stop at the first convenience store for matches or go to a smoke shop for a disposable torch. (I also buy a cheapo cutter since you can't carry that either and about all you could do with it is give a really good bris.)

Has anyone used this thing? It looks more dangerous than a lighter itself! I had a Bic with me on my cruise ship and it totally sucked, I gotta have my Dupont Xtend!

I know that when I've travelled with my Z-plus, I always separate the insert from the case, since the case is more important to me. I've never lost either. . .

To my mind, the Colibri case just screams "steal me." No way I would put an $800 ST Dupont in my checked baggage.

Not that I have such a lighter, mind you. I'm just sayin...

Domestic “torch” travel was not a problem on a recent cross country trip. Although I had to declare the lighter while pointing out which checked bag, I was surprised to be asked “What Brand” of approved container. Since it was known at the time that only two had been approved, with the Colibri yet to market, I selected the correct answer: Zippo.

This heavy-duty Otter-type box with a clear side for viewing between the foam inserts, gave enough room for a medium sized Colibri to be viewed without further inspection. I additionally placed a $10 type guillotine cutter behind the foam insert for destination convenience, etc.

In the end I figured a net loss of $125 or so for the Brand-New single flame Colibri, carrier, and cutter would we worth the test since I prefer my local dealer in case of service needs, etc.

If a Dunhill though for example, I would not have gambled. If French, I would never have purchased in the first place.

Don't quote me on this, but it kind of depends on where you're flying to/from. I went to DC a couple of weeks ago and had no problem leaving Houston with a "disposable" torch in my shaving kit. I've flown with it the same way about 6 times, and IAH was no different. Coming back through BWI, though, they snagged it. Doesn't make sense why they're so tough there; a plane would have to basically stay on the ground to hit DC from BWI!
