My favorite vodka is Belvedere Polish Vodka. I tried a new vodka made by this same company called Chopin. It is made from potatoes. I like it and believe it is another great Polish Vodka. I still like the Belvedere the best.

Didn't they outlaw potatoe vodka when people started dying from a byproduct of fermenting the sprouted eyes? That was the story I heard. I heard the only maker that still uses potatoes is Black death vodka. I could be wrong though. Truth is, I don't know jack about vodka because its pretty boring IMO. Age it in oak for 10 or 12 years and then I'll drink it. I like full bodied liquor, full bodied cigars, and skinny women. What can I say?

Dont know my friend. But thats what it says on the bottle. It is expensive about the same as Gray Goose which are both cheeper than my favorite Belvdedere. I think that Potatoe vodka is thought of as the cheep stuff in Europe.

Hi Raven; Yup.I usually prefer potato vodka over those made with grain. To me, the potato vodka is much smoother tasting, and goes great with tonic, or right out of the freezer (I keep all my Gin & Vodka in there).
If you like Polish Vodkas, see if you can find some Luksusowa Potato Vodka - my favorite. It used to be dirt cheap, but it's caught on now, and the prices have been going up down here, but it's still cheaper than most.... http://www.luksusowa.net/
I think that rumor was a crock. My buddy supposedly heard it from his bartending school instructor. After a quick search I was able to locate several potato vodkas and oddly enough black death isn't even one of them. It is distilled from beets. Glacier and Blue Ice are the most easily recognized names but there are also several obscure international brands that are made with potatoes.

Actually pmp potato vodka's are all over the place. in my store I must carry at least 10. I have found that generally as far as vodka goes there are two camps at least in the premium brands...those that like the Russian and Polish Vodka's who are similar in taste and Scandinavian and various others. The Polish Vodka's tend to have a crisp bite on the finish with a medium burn that slowly spreads once consumed. The opposite camp likes the smooth finish of Absolut, Level, or Grey Goose, now these vodkas have no bite or cripness in the finish and are more like water. They are all good!! Of course there are those that drink for quantity not quality, but that is another story!! Anyway I'm thankful that people have different tastes.....makes for a more entertaining world, not to mention profitable!
