I've been looking into Traeger pellet smokers. I'm going to a BBQ competition this weekend, and know a guy who competes with a Trager that's commercial size.
I'm wondering what kind of rigs you guys have (which model of Traeger, or what size wood smoker) and if it's working for your application, pros and cons, etc.
Will report on the competition after I get back.

Mash, I've the Texas Style. Doesn't get any better. Easy.... no fighting with logs, flare ups, too much heat. Smoked salmon with the alder pellets, damn good. Hope it goes well at the contest.
Hey. At least I'm housebroken.

They do look interesting Masher.......I'm not in the market for a new one but they look nice. I've got a standard smoker with an offset fire box. It works for me and plenty of good meat has taken a smoke bath in it. My only advice is to buy a unit that has enough cooking surface to comfortably hold the amount of food you would normally cook....mine is a little small at times but I enjoy it all the same.......
Yep I need a good smoker tooooo. It can be a B!tch to smoke a brisket on a straight up pit but its the challenge and the knowledge of being able to master you fire and coals that really make it a art. I did a brisket two days ago with Mesquite for 7 hours, MoFo came out pretty good. I need a smoker so I can keep that heat down and go 12 hours of smoke. I also did some ribs for three hours on the Mesquite also and I had to put my hands underneath them to put them on the Pan.
Keep the pit and cigars smoking James!
