After a long sabbatical, I'm back on the boards and thought I'd pass along some places that allow cigar smoking in NoVA. Of course Shelly's and Ozio in the District get a lot of type around here, but I thought a few NoVA places should be mentioned that are not mentioned as much.
EatBar 2761 Washington Blvd. Arlington, VA
EatBar is a new "gastropub" attached to (the new location of) Tallula. Cigar smoking is allowed in the back bar. Ventilation isn't the greatest and many cigerette smokers in this area too. They have a very impressive wine list and a few bourbons/whiskeys available. Pappy Van Winkle 20y being the best. Very hip and modern place, popular with the 20-something set.
Bailey's Pub & Grill 4238 Wilson Blvd. Arlington, VA 22203
Bailey's is located in the Ballston Mall. Sports bar with TV's literally everywhere you look. Pool tables, dart boards and lots of space. During the week, stays fairly empty but if there is a big event (NFL sundays, NCAA Saturdays, NCAA Tourney, etc.) the place is packed. Biggest grip is the service. Getting a beer/drink/food is like pulling teeth. Sitting one of the bars helps a bit, but expect to be treated as if you are a bother to the wait staff/bartenders. But at least you can get a beer and have a cigar while watching some form of sports on TV.
Ireland's Four Provinces 105 West Broad Street Falls Church, VA 22046
4-Ps is the best place. Too bad it isn't closer to my apartment. (Bailey's is across the street.) A true irish bar, down to the staff. Cigar smoking in the bar area. TVs showing futbol/soccer or American football (NFL) or basketball. Lots of whiskey/whisky/bourbon and great beers on tap. Great food! Love this place.
Anyway, there are three places for anyone in the area or traveling to the DC/NoVA area. If anyone has any other places, please feel free to add. I love finding out new places to have a bourbon and cigar!
Cheers!

A little further away from DC, off Braddock Rd in Fairfax are 2 local places for me.
Kilroy's and Fat Tuesday. Kilroy's is just outside the Beltway, on Port Royal, and is a full service bar/restaurant. Cigars are OK in the bar, but it's usually crowded. Lots of sports on lots of TV's.
Fat's is located by George Mason U. in University Mall More of a college bar, live entertainment, good beer selection, and more of a college dive

Second that! Sunday night is the best night for a chill crowd, having a stogie, whiskey, and good atmosphere. Kevin, the barkeep, knows how to keep those glasses filled...

if ever in Alexandria, there is Southside 815 on South washington street. They allow smoking in the bar area, plus good southern food.
Also, there is Union Street in Old town. Good beer and you can smoke.
But you know what I crave, is just a good ole cigar lounge. What are you gonna do?

I used to go to Murphy's on King Street but there was no smoking last time I was there.
Yeah, I do not think you can smoke there. The best place to go in old town is either right around the corner, Union St, or Southside 815 on Washington. You can smoke there and people actually like it.
I have made it my Saturday ritual, to go have some fried green tomatoes, oyster po boy and some cheese grits. After I am stuff, I light up. Last weekend it was a RP Corojo Edge.

Bailey's in Crystal City is iffy...smoked cigars in there before, but the Manager asked me to extinguish my Punch Gran Cru #2 last night...I guess he had some complaints, although there were plenty of cigarette smokers present...
If you guys ever find yourselves doing that weekend drive through the country to skyline drive or Shenandoah check out the Grille at Main St Station in Purcellville. Its about 8 miles outside of Leesburg on 7.
John the owner is a cigar nut. In the lounge there is at min 1 person enjoying a cigar at any given time during the day and thats him. Great guy to hang out with and talk cigars. Plus the food is top notch. They've got this 40 oz bone-in filet that is unbelievable. As you can tell I love this place. He doesn't sell cigars but if you happen to be without one there's a gourmet food/wine store across main st that has a small but good selection.
I have no financial interest in this place, just passing along a hidden and out of the way great place to have a fantastic meal and enjoy a good cigar and drink. Its a winner.
