Mom and the girls are out having their night, so my boy and I are gonna go eat sushi til we bust. Anyone else here like it or is it - like Terry Bradshaw calls it - "bait" to some?

Disclaimer: I know that if I start a thread about raw fish, Stoge is gonna have a field day takin' it down the dirt path... so GO ahead, Buddy, I know it'll happen anyway Wink

It depends. Salmon & Tuna, yes. Squid & octopus, no. Also, like a lot of the veggie rolls. Can't get enough wasabi.

Do you buy take out or make your own?

I love Sushi. Usually eat it for lunch a couple times a month. Doesn't matter what kind, tuna, eel whatever. Some good shoyu [sp?] and you're set Wink.

I got addicted to Sushi and Sashimi when I was in Okinawa. Love the stuff....but it's got to be made by someone who knows what they're doing, and made with only the freshest fish.

There's a couple of good places to get it in Daytona & Orlando, but you have to know where to go...nothing worse than Sushi made by amateurs.

I especially like the smoked eel (Unagi) prawns (Ebi) and baby octopus (Tako)...Any of the Nigiri rolls actually...

When I was in Okinawa, they had Fugu (Blowfish)..which is the best Sashimi in the world, only problem is, a few people a year die from it. If it's not prepared properly, (if any of the liver is touched - a very potent toxin), it will kill you. Traditionally, the Fugu Chef (who is trained for a few years in proper preparation) will come out and take the first bite...Obviously not available in the US, but phenomenal flavor.
Cool

We've got a local Fresh Market that has some japanese guys in there rolling sushi, and it's great. I really like the spicy shrimp and advocado rolls. I tried the eel once, and even though it tasted good, i just couldn't get past the knowledge of what it was factor Eek

I love sushi. The fiance and I eat it at least once or twice a month.

There is nothing I have had that I didn't like, except the marinated baby octopus. That was kinda weird. I could taste their squishy brains as I bit through the head. And the color was pink like a fetus.

OK, that just paints a picture I don't want to see. Wonder if it is what a shark thinks after a a human meal!

I have Sushi at least twice a week. There's a sushi place at the Student Union @ UCF that has the basic sushi rolls- California, Salmon, etc. along with the sweet tofu bags and some sashimi.

Sushi is great, but like people have already said, it's GOT to be made by people who know what they're doing.

My favorite local place is Shiki in Winter Park.

Work sucks.

Andy.....some of us Texas boys like Sushi as well as BBQ. I usually post about something going in my smoker but I will indulge a couple of times a month in some Sushi. I know you are a gourmet.......ever try making your own? I would like to try it and have recently thought about giving it a try.

sea urchin is my absolute favorite. unfortunatley it's also very expensive, so I don't normally make a meal out of just that. I tend to go more for the rolls than the actual sushi.
