I was recently the recipient of a bottle of Scotch Whiskey from a friends Grandmother left to me in her will. The story is that the bottle was acquired in Occupied France in 1943 along with others. This bottle was taken back to Hamburg until 1975, when it was brought to Huntsville, Alabama. It remained in storage (not very good storage) until 2 years ago. We were cleaning out their storage facility when I found it. It was in a wooden box that fell apart when I picked it up. The bottle is green and the writing on it (that is readable) appears to be in French. The Seal is still on the bottle but the cork has pretty much dissolved. About 1/2 of the fluid leaked out through the seal. Last year I turned the bottle upside-down and got about 1 oz of it into a small glass. It was by far the nicest Scotch Whisky I have ever tasted.
The marking on the bottle that I can read are: Top is destroyed. In the middle: Finement Laissé vieillir Garanti Vrai et Salubre Vieux Whisky écossais
At the bottom of the Label: U.T.F. No. 213 Contenuto m. 1000 ca-Anidro 430 (Lable torn) 43
Any ideas on what it is I have? Thanks in advance.

Without more information I do not know what Scotch you have.
Almost! But, because of the diminutive grammatical construction which makes harder to accurately translate, the meaning is just slightly different :
-Age with care (the way you wrote it, although more logical, would have been spelled "vieilli finement" or "vieilli avec soin" -- probably an error translating to French from the English "Finely matured", see below) -Garanteed authentic and wholesome -Old Scotch whisky
Anyway, I'm happy to tell you that after some research, I found out your bottle is a pre-WWII Delval Ltd. Old Distillers, Special Brand Finely Matured Scotch Whisky. A ordinary blended whisky. It doesn't exist anymore.
The Label you have is the French sticker they added so the consumers in France knew what they were buying.

Saxon- I have about 1/2 of the bottle that is still intact. If some other "special" event doesn't popup before then, I will be glad to share it with you when you come to town. You bring the smokes and I'll supply the spirits.
