Seems every region has their own hot dogs or locally made dogs. Like Chicago has the Vienna Beef and Rochester, NY has some white dogs, can't remember the name though. Just wondered if anyone else had a favorite. For me, here in the Detroit area, I like Kowalski dogs in a natural casing. Good flavor and I love the pop when I bite into them.

I'm partial to Dodger Dogs and Nathan's, but they're not so much local anymore, as you can buy the dogs at the grocery, or at a rest stop off the Jersey Turnpike.
But, I agree, the more local varieties, from wherever, are usually the best. Ben's Chili Bowl in DC (gotta get the half smoke with chili, onions and mustard!)and Pink's in LA are two of my favorites.

Hey, if it tatses good to someone, more power to 'em. For me, the best toppings for a hot dog are Chili and Cole Slaw, followed by Chili and Cheese as a close second.

So many hot dogs, so little time! Where does one start?
I'm not sure what brands (if any) are local and/or national, but in no particular order of importance for me: Nathan's, Sabrett, Best and Judea.
And of course I would be remiss without mentioning that any hot dog at a ball park is great and last but not least a dirty water dog from a push cart in Manhattan hit the spot everytime.

For me, it's Nathans direct from the source. Right off the beach at Coney Island. With peppers and onions.... Oh boy. I never ate two hot dogs so quickly before.
