I am a Port lover. With a cigar, with dinner , with dessert or just having a glass to unwind, I love drinking Port. I'm very partial to aged Tawny Port with Grahams 10 year old, Taylor Fladgate 20 year old and Cockburns and Sandeman being right up there. I also prefer that the Port be from Portugal. Recently I took a shot after reading a review of a very inexpencive Port from Austalia.
Jonesy Old Tawny Port. $9.95. It was the darkest Tawny I have ever seen. Almost like prune juice in color. This stuff was sublime. It was rich and complex with heavy raisin, dark cherry and a honey nutty taste. I had a glass this afternoon with a cigar that was recently gifted to me. The cigar was an unbanded machine made CC roughly the size of a petit corona. I don't know the make as the person that gifted it to me couldn't remember what it was. The combo was perfection. The cigar had a rich woody strait forward Cuban tobacco flavor. The two just melded together perfectly.
So there you have it. An inexpencive Port with a machine made CC that was of perfect ballance.
Now I realize I don't have to pair my 20 year old Tawny with a Padron 64 to get that perfect ballance.
Enjoy.

Thanks littoines. I too enjoy port and got the Jonesy from wine.com to try something new. The reviews were favorable considering the really low price. I look forward to it as soon as I finish the Graham's Six Grapes.

I've found a California port named Ficklin to be an excellent choice. Of course, I'm able to drive to the winery, and back in twenty minutes or less, and that helps the wine out. I assume wine ridding in the back of an eighteen wheeler for a few days and many miles doesn't help.

Good cheap port? Clocktower, from Australia. Though if you can afford it Graham's 10 y/o is my favorite non vintage port.

Try the Illapara 10 year tawny. It is a very rich tasting Australian port, and the best bang for the buck, IMHO. $18 for a bottle here in NC............

I tried Jonesey Old tawny port last year right around the holidays. It was cheap and got a very high rating.I really did not like it that prune juice color you describe is just what it tasted like to me.Now Taylor Fladgate 20 yr old that is a horse of a different color can't get enough. Thanks for the review.

Yeah, that 20 year old tawny Taylor Fladgate seemed to evaporate pretty fast Wink.
I'm looking forward to another bottle.
