I second the recommendation for Kilkenny. I had a few of these during one of my trips to Montreal, with a MC #2, and it paired well. It's been a while since I've had a Guinness with a cigar, but if I remember correctly, it matched up well with my preferred sticks (strong, full-bodied and fat).

Kinda funny. When I was working north of Toronto the guys there referred to Moosehead and Labatt’s as “Yankee” beers. Big Grin

Huh - Labatt 50 is about as Canadian Old School as you can get - 30 years ago it was one of the few Labatt products available in Stubbies
Moosehead is a refined Cdn beer - sort of a Canadian Heineken
Funny though I always think of Molson as the America beer as it was all they served when I visited Bowling green a few times

Definetly Bohemia beer. If not available I like a the Paulner Hefewiezen. Nice. Reminds me of this great place in Austin off of 6th street called the Gingerman. It has a great selection of beers and sells a limited selection of cigars. Lounge chairs and some hot women actually come up and say "I like the way that smells what cigar is that?" (That's nice for a change.)

I'm not going to lie, I'm not a big fan of the wheat beer/cigar combo. There are worst combos, but I occasionally enjoy a Chimay Blue or a Hacker Pschorr Animator with a smoke. Basically any higher alcohol content darker beer with a lot of flavor, but not a very hoppy flavor. Otherwise, a glass of water or a scotch, I suppose.

I'm partial to an Amber ale, in halifax we have Keith's Red and Clancy's amber, both really nice beers, i find the cigar enhances the flavor even more so, and on a roof top patio, in the summer, that can't be beaten

I once had Rogues Hazelnut Stout once with a Don Carlos DBL robusto.

Was trying that beer for the first time and man was that a good combo.

On average i usually dont drink beer with a smoke.

Try Sierra Blanca's Roswell Alien Amber Ale or O'Dell Brewing Co (Ft Collins, CO) 90 Shilling Ale. Good sharp brews that lend a great taste to a full-bodied cigar.

Founders Breakfast Stout, made by Founders Brewing Company, Grand Rapids MI. Kind of expensive, hard to find. Worth it.

Guiness is good but I like an eastern brew, Yeunglings with a cigar. I thinbk the beer must have bodyu and taste to stand up to the cigar

Newcastle is my #1 beer of choice with a cigar, but i also enjoy Sierra Nevada once in a while with a good smoke. I tried an IPA the other night, and they are right, really hoppy beers dont work that well with a good cigar.

Before they ditched our indoor smoking rights here in NJ, I used to enjoy a local Pale Ale with a CAO Mx2, or a Trinidad Maduro, at one of the brewpubs. Of course, wolfing down a plate of fried calamari with some good red sauce at the same time made the mix of flavors heavenly.
