I really haven't developed a great taste for rum up to this point. This may sound like sacrilege but so far I've been content with Bacardi. Maybe I'll pick up some new names and ideas from this thread...

Havana Club 7 is great. I also like Matusalem.

Rum is pretty basic, it's just sugar cane. Bacardi will do.

People seem to hunt down Cubay this year.

I like rum. But I guess I am not as hard core as you would like us to be . . . ?

I like mojitos, especially when they are made with HC.

love the RZC 23, amazingly complex and smooth, apricot, citrus, awesome. I get the RZC 15 for mojitos, they turn out so smooth. sure $30 rum for mojitos might be a bit much, but like cooking, its all in the ingredients...

for an earthy molasses cubanesque rum i love Pampero Ron Anejo Annerversario

Cuban rums have a wonderful smoothness to them but i don't find them complex, just a wonderful deep rich flavor. in order, i pick Caney, Cubay and HC. but with shipping costs etc(i think Caney is only sold IN cuba), they get more expensive than the RZC 23!!, so i stick to that.

summer is near and rum season is soon here. I'm a scotch drinker, but when the heat picks up, i love my RZC and Pampero with one rock!!!

I have liked the story behind Bacardi. they were taken over by the Cuban gov. and then exiled from Cuba. The story behind the rum I like. It kind of reminds me of the Padron story.

Just recently had some Havana Club Anejo Reserva and Anejo Especial. I thought rum is rum, but this stuff is good!

I want to try the Tatto Cap. Morgan. I've heard that is good. There's another one called 100 monkeys or something...

I admittedly have not tried more than 5 or 6 different rums, but I have to say that I like Havana Club the best of those I´ve tried. I have some Havana Club 5 years right now.

HC 5 years? They make HC3 and HC7 but I am unaware of an HC5.

I'm fine with metusalem or appleton estate. HC is good but not worth crossing the border for.

never tried zacapa but I bet I would be disappointed. I'm assuming you mean 23 years and I guarantee its still pee compared to 18 year old scotch.
