To set the record straight, I' saying that Laphroaaaig scootch whickey (from the cask) is the best damn sippin' whikey, ere.

By the way, one is not "Scotch", one drinks it.

I have to agree on the Laphroaig....my favorite single malt by far.....however, it's not for everyone. It has a very distinctive smoky-peaty flavor that's somewhat polarizing...you either love it or hate it.

I love it!
Cool

I enjoy the Laphroaig Quarter Cask even more than the Cask Strength or the 15 year-old. It is an amazing whisky.

Problem with Islay whisky is it's very peaty, and that's something that takes some getting used to. I prefer a good Highland or Speyside myself!

Peat is where its at when drinking an Islay whisky, comes with the territory, Laphroaig is in my top 10 along with Lagavulin , but I also like some of the spaysides, highland , lowlands & anything else that some one is willing to pore in my snifter , as long as I have a fine cigar & a cup of coffee no single malt is bad ! Enjoy, Vince

I prefer Lagavulin 16 year old, but a about $75.00 a bottle it is getting a little out of reach for an everyday Scotch.

I have been drinking Bowmore Marnier lately and it is also a very good Islay.

I quite like a Bowmore but have been put off with them making more versions than you can shake a stick at. Bowmore "Legend", "Port Wood", and all the others. Why not just good old Bowmore aged however many years takes your fancy.

If you like one off, superb quality malts then you can do worse than http://www.adelphidistillery.com.

Doc - Lagavulin at $75? some store are being jerks about that whisky. The current supply issue is causing some stores to jack up the price. In the boston area its $56-$65...but i have seen some stores hyping the supply issue and charging $75-$80. I'll believe the supply issue when those mega-liquor stores selling it for bottom dollar can no longer get it. but the one near me is in stock 75% of the time at $58.

the bigger travesty is the price increase macallan has been putting through over the past year. yikes!!!

single malts are trendy now...but that will change.

I think single malts have a long way to go yet before they start to slump (although I talk from a Uk perspective.

Macallan is a whisky I can never fathom. So many people rave about it but it's really just very run-of-the-mill! Having said that, even the worst single malt is better than most other drinks!
