I just recently joined the forum but after reading numerous posts decided i would contribute. If anyone is ever in Paris and is looking for a place to buy cigars, the one and only place i recommend is "a la civette" near the louvre. Not only does it have a very good selection but the prices are also the best in Paris. It is close to 300 years old, and has welcomed many celebrities and aficionados over the years, like casanova, micheal Jordan and voltaire. They speak english, are very knowledgeable, and is in a great location. So if anyone is ever in Paris and wondering where to look for cigars definitely go by "a la civette". cheers and enjoy!

I haven't been to À la civette (Is it at 157, rue Saint-Honoré ?). Anyway, a place I really liked in Paris was the civette (tobacco store) at 14, boulevard Haussmann, near the Galeries Lafayette. They had some Cohiba DC EL 2003 left last december and a pretty good selection at excellent prices.

I had the opportunity to live in Paris for a short time many years ago. There used to be a cigar shop there by the name Tabatiere Odeon. Do you know if it's still around? Oh, it's across the street from the Odeon Metro.
This website rates the civettes (cigar shops) of Paris. With the aid of a good dictionary, you can explore the world of Paris cigars to your heart's content! Pour une Poignée de Cigares

depending on how strict the new smoking ban is, here are a few places i would recommend. For starters, you can stop at any cafe, have an expresso and petit edmundo, while enjoying the scenery. The Tuilerie Gardens (gardens of the Louvre) are a very good place to either walk or sit and enjoy as well. Paris has plenty of enjoyable outdoor smoking locations... I know that alot of the nicer hotels, have very nice bars, and seating, and live music (i'm thinking of "Le Meurice") but is also very expensive... (Meurice has 12 euro coffee's and 9 euro cokes... no need to mention alcohol prices)There is a good cigar store down the street near the louvre, right next to the palais royal. i recommend it! enjoy your trip! watch for the euro though the conversion rate is killing people!

Forget almost all cafés and the likes, unless you want to smoke outside at 40-50F, which can be nice if it's sunny.
I've heard of only one place that has a confortable semi-heated, semi-inside section to smoke, Le Pachyderme, at 22, Boulevard St Martin (Paris 75010) Phone, to check before going once you're in Paris, 01 42 06 32 56

You may know about A La Civette, but have you smoked a cigar in the park across the street? It's a bit hidden, but a nice spot in the Spring when the tulips are in bloom.

I am finishing up my last class as an undergrad now, and should be done with my masters by next year... so to answer your question i am a student.
As for the park, i know exactly what you're talking about, I grew up in France in a small town right next to versailles, and i spent alot of time around paris! Jardin du Luxembourg might be my favorite though.
O man, let me know if you interested in a few very nice restaurants, if you are wanting to sample paris' finest I can point you in the right direction. Check out, tour d'argent, Lucas carton, 59 point carre, l'ambroisie and carre des feuillantes. All very good, and highly rated, check out the michelin guide for more info!
