popeye's is my prefernce.... Love the dirty rice.... Too bad they are hard to come by out here.... KFC is taking over. KFC is decent but a pain. They always forget something or theyre out of something

I'm a big fan of Popeye's always have been. Although in the old days I really liked and still do like the original KFC recipe. I remember when Al Copeland had only 1 store before he opened other locations and went corporate. The line to buy his chicken back then was at least 30 minutes to place an order, and it was "to die for". He's dead now, died in Germany years ago. I believe when he had to sell out to Church's, a part of him died as well. He was a real character, went through several divorces, always had beautiful women around him, and during Christmas, his home was a showplace. People from all over drove down his street to see his displays. The neighbors filed injunctions to make him take the displays down because they couldn't even get to their homes because of the traffic. But, over the years, he fought them and won. He actually got into a fist fight in Morton's Steak House one night with a political/business rival.....a little New Orleans trivia for you guys.

Haven't tried Popeyes yet but wiil soon. Won't go to KFC again. When I lived in WY - Cody - there was one KFC. One night my wife and I just had a taste for KFC, didn't feel like cooking and all that. Anyway, went out to the store, one that sort of partnered with something else, a taco joint? Anyway, we got to the front of the line and all the folks in front of us had been walking away muttering. I hadn't paid much attention and went to the ordr taker and gave our order. No problem she says. We wait.....and wait.....and wait. Fast food?! I walked back to the counter and told the gal that we had been waiting quite a while. She apologized and then said they were out of chicken. I damn near hit the roof. A chicken place out of chicken?! And its not like the lines had been stretching down the block.

Popeye's 100% of the time if I eat fried chicken. I had it the first time about five years ago when I traveled down to Texas. I think I saw one in OK and we stopped and ate it. IT WAS GREAT! Then a few years later, they started to spring up in Iowa and was the hit of Des Moines for quite a while!! I haven't had it in a while but it sounds great - maybe I will have some soon. But the spicy chicken with some red beans and rice is excellent.

Aww... none of you have had Bojangles? This is a shame.
Bojangles is the best fried chicken in the world, hands down. Take a trip to Carolina and get the Cajun chicken, fries with extra seasoning, and sweet tea. Heaven
