I know we talk about scotches and whiskeys and wines...but I am a beer guy. I love coming home from work and having a cold beer and a cigar and playing ball with my two Dogs Mack (english bully) and King (6 mo. Black lab)
I like many of the heavier, and more flavorful types, but my favorites are Bavarian style double bocks and marzens.
Spaten Optimator and Marzen Paulaner Salvator and Marzen Ayinger Celebrator
Some of the regional micro breweries in the U.S. have some pretty good stuff too.

This is just about a carbon copy of my evenings in the summer, dogs and all.
However, I can't get Yuengling in IN, so the in-laws from MD bring it when they come to town. Other than that, there is a brewery in town calld Oaken Barrel and their beers go great with cigars; pale ale, stout, red, seasonal wheat ales, hell, I'll relax with a Miller Lite if I have to.
But summer, cigars and beers really mean Dos Equis and Red Stripes for me!

in the summer when its hot nothing hits the spot like a cold Labatts Blue or Blue lite.
True that when its really hot the best beers IMO are the cheap "watery" ones like Busche lite or PBR, but they have to be brutally cold. I usually put them in the freezer for awhile.
Otherwise I really like belgium style, Blue Moon, Hoagaarden, Wienstephan (sp?) and Chimay if I want to splurge. Oh and lately I have been on a Boddingtons kick.

My 'go-to' beer is Molson Ice, but I also like Guinness alot.
Steve, that Aventinus Bock sounds right up my alley, I'll have to keep my eyes open for it.

I'm such a geek I remember being very excited when I first got to try Pabst Blue Ribbon. I calmed down a little after tasting it. I had fun drinking it though. Guinness fan myself.

I bet you did. I'd rather have some Isabella Rossellini myself...

Having lived for some time in the US I can say there is some really great stuff at microbreweries, while most of the US-made mainstream mass-produced stuff is not worth drinking. To me the worst is Bud - I do not think it can be called beer. IMHO they make very good mass produced beer in Germany, Czech Rep., Netherlands, Belgium and Ireland. Heiniken, Lowenbrau, Staropramen, Holsten, Guiness to name a few. But I somehow have had the luck of repeatedly finding superb beers of obscure brands and limited brewing in any country I visited. I can't even remember the brand names now...
