I'm a cracker barrel whore so for me its the sunrise sampler: hashbrown casserole, eggs, grits, country ham, bacon, sausage and just when my arteries thought they'd had enough... buttermilk biscuits smothered with country gravy <drooooool> if you can top that be my guest!

I used to LOVE Cracker Barrel, but I think I spend too much time on the road these days and they just remind me of the fact that I am not at home!

Greatest breakfast?

At Sergio's on SW 152nd and SW 137th Ave. Tostada Cubana with Cafe con leche, eggs over easy with the ham you can only get there, grits (harina) if you need them. And probably a croqueta to begin with, but it must be eaten between Saltine crackers.

Mine is usually what I cookup for breakfast on holidays whenever the kids all are here. Scratch pancakes or French Toast using homemade bread, thick sliced bacon and sausage, grits (of course),scrambled and fried eggs, hash browns, and usually at least two pots of coffee of different flavors. The kids and their friends love it, I call it breakfast Southern Style..or a heart attack waiting to happen.

Andy your taking it old school with sergios man, between Hialeah and Miami Lakes stints my parents and I lived down in kendall (la sauwecera meng) by sergios when I was a little kid. Great mariquitas and media noches there, oh and a huge bistec a la milanesa. Never tried the breakfast though, I should check it out.

...It's 'bout time someone got to the "real" subjects around here! Breakfast happens to be my favorite meal of all-time. I can eat it 24 hours a day!! I really don't know where to start: Let's see, grits, eggs, my own buttermilk pancakes, I love any bran cereal (Wheaties, Raisin Bran, etc.), oatmeal and I also love omelets, wheat and rye toast, skim milk, etc... I'll stop here. This could be a minute. Big Grin

Dr. Alejandro,

We should hook up at Sergios for some old school breakfast followed by a nice cigar over the holidays.

Dude the mariquitas there are to die for. I have a business lunch there every Friday. Mariquitas and about 4 or 5 of those little plastic containers of mojo poured all over it with a little lime too.

Oh, I gotta have my fix....
Huevos Rancheros with home made maize tortillas thick and hot, refried frijoles and arroz. There's this one little place that not to many Americanos go to that is authentic and they top their Huevos Rancheros with Chile Verde that has a kick to it.

Other than the fix, it's the standard bacon and eggs over medium, hash browns crispy and whole wheat toast.

Depends on the mood and the day:

Sometimes I have nothing for breakfast. Other times it is the Bel Loc Diner on Loch Raven Blvd for a 6 egg sausage and cheddar omelette with a side of scrapple, rye toast, coffee, and tomato juice.

Great thread!

I made the mistake of reading it first thing this AM and I may have to have one of those monster scrambles Brendan was talking about!

Another breakfast that rocks is chilaquiles verdes with a couple of fried eggs on top. When I lived in Mexico City, breakfast was my favorite meal of the day.

Dang! you guys are making me hungry again! Some of the best breakfast places I've found are usually little local "greasy spoons"...just ask the locals where they eat.....or look where the local Police cars are parked.

My all time favorite place though is "The Breakers" in New Smyrna Beach Fl. The place is right on the ocean (actually cantilevered over the beach - and the side facing the sea opens up so that you feel like you are sitting right on the sand). I don't know if they offer breakfast anymore (had to be rebuilt after last years hurricanes), but we used to ride out there at sunrise and have fresh seafood omelets and Mimosas while watching the dolphins play in the surf.
That's my idea of Breakfast!
Cool

My favorite breakfast is an omelette with lots of cheese, vegetables, and salsa, served with hashed browns and bagel or sourdough bread. My wife makes the best. Smile Second best is the breakfast restaurants in Long Beach CA near the ocean.
