I rarely eat butter at home. I eat it with corn on the cob. If there is no sour cream I might put it on a baked potato (this is rare). Rarely I put it on asparagus or green beans (if some is in the fridge).
In restaurants: I don`t touch the melted butter served with lobster or fish in restaurants. If the bread is good, I'll eat all the bread & butter on the table.
I love butter, buy my cholesterol doesn't. About the only thing I use it in is mashed potatoes. My wife uses it in baking, but luckily, she doesn't bake that much.

We've recently decided to try to get a bit healthier - you know, cut down on beef and pork, more fish and chisken, etc. Re: butter - Wee've gon back to margarine (Brummel and Brown) for toast and such but I have yet to find a margarine/spread that will cook like butter. I don't fry much and use mostly olive oil when I do but certain recipes just need butter.

I use I Can't Believe its not Butter usually. I always have a pound of butter on hand though. 3 sticks in the freezer and one stick in the fridge. I use it on just about everything. Julia Childs did until the day she died, so thats what I'm going to do.

I love butter. When I moved from the States to Montreal I was surprised at how much better the butter tasted here. I was told that Canadian laws allow for a different processing method-which in turn provides a fresher taste.

The thing with butter is that it can be used without any health problems. This is using it for seasoning, rather than actually in the food. For example, when making a steak, add a knob of butter and baste the steak. Very little will be absorbed, but the caramelisation of the milk solids will take the steak/any meat to another level when making a sauce, don't fry anything in butter, use oil, and at the end add a small knob of cold butter to season the sauce and give it body, flavour and a shine.

I eat all the butter I want. Real butter, with everything it goes with. Potatoes, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, meat, bread, shellfish, fish...whatever. What the Hell good is living longer if I can't enjoy it? The French enjoy pounds and pounds of butter and real cream without health effects. Americans are sorely off-track and have the blandest palate in the world. Go back to real food.
I love butter on everything and only real butter , none of that "this isnt real butter" so its good for you crap. I like garlic butter on my steak , and I also love cinnamon butter on my rolls.
