Hi everyone!! I wanted to get some good feedback about a project that I've been working on.

I've been feeling the pain of having fewer and fewer places to have a cigar, even in Michigan (we don't have a formal smoking ban yet ).

A couple of times recently, I've walked into places that I've had cigars before, sat down, threw a ziplock bag of cigars on the table, and sat back to wait for my friends to arrive, only to be confronted by a waitress saying "oh ... we don't allow cigars anymore."

So I've decided to use what I know about the web to try to make it easier for people to find a place to enjoy a cigar, and I could use your help. At http://www.cigarplaces.com , you'll find an interactive map that I created that will let you easily search for a cigar-friendly spot. It will also allow you to add places that you know of that permit cigars.

This was created not only because I believe strongly in our rights to do something that we enjoy, but also because cigar lounges, cigar bars, and cigar-friendly restaurants are difficult to search for (because of the way search engines work, a search for "cigar lounge" on a site like Google Maps, will not return very extensive results).

Please check out the site and add any cigar-friendly places that you know of! Smile If you have any suggestions (website features or otherwise), I'd love to hear them.

I just added Cigarros in Omaha and bookmarked your site for future reference. This is a great idea, thank you very much!

Is there any way to group locations by area? Right now there are 4 pages with 10 locations each, but the locations of each page are scattered about. I can search by city, but not by state or county.

Good job...keep up the good work.

You can also go to http://www.cigarfriendly.com
It's hard to keep up with all the changes in state law so there may be the occasional listing of an establishment that used to permit smoking.

That's a great suggestion. I'll add it to the list of planned improvements!

I tried to ad some places in Ohio and Michigan, but I am getting a crazy error when I go through the motions.

All I know is I have never seen an error like that. Just a heads up, but if it is only me then I'll try another computer later this week.

Hi Cyrann,

Shoot me a PM if you have any more details about the error you saw. I've had a lot of entries today, so it looks like everything is working correctly.

Well I guess if I'm going to have errors, I'd rather they be the crazy, mind-blowing kind, as opposed to the normal kind that no one pays any attention to! Big Grin

What about cigar shops that host nice walk-in lounges? Do those count?

I realize now that mine was a horribly stupid question. Dur-hur...

Done. Great idea, thank you!

Added:
- Cigars on Sixth (Denver)
- Jerri's (Denver Pavilions)
- Havana's Fine Cigars (Cherry Creek)

No problem, Aphexafx; it was definitely a valid question.

Thanks for adding your favorite spots! The map has grown by over 100 locations over the last two days.
