Televised hockey is once again available - Woohooo!!
Just wondering two things.
1. Are there any other hockey players and/or fans on this forum?
2. Anyone know of any NHL rinks where a stogie can still be enjoyed (i.e. do any private boxes still allow smoking)?

I eat drink and sleep hockey. I live in Buffalo and like the Sabres but I am a HUUUUGGE Habs fan. I watched them beat the Canes last night in o.t. I'm going to the Sabres vs Islanders Friday night. I don't think there is a place to smoke anymore at games. GO HABS GO.
Lets go Buffalo! Sorry, EVP, your team is going to get schooled Friday night. I've been talking sh*t all week because soooo many people from Long Island go to my school lol. I know how to pick up a LI girl now, however...

haha, all in good fun, I'm just kidding...
Jms....we've been getting schooled since 1984, we're used to it. Add to the fact that I'm a Jets fan and I should be suicidal right now. My only saving grace is that I'm a Yankee fan...otherwise I'd NEVER see a world championship!
Actually, the proper way to pick up a long island girl is to...oh wait, there is no PROPER way to pick one up. Just cruise the street in whatever muscle car is in (when I was growing up, it was the IROC, a.k.a. I Reek Of Cologne) and one of the little whores will jump in.
No offense taken! All in good clean fun...as long as the Rangers don't win!

Grew up near Hockeytown, but back then it was called Detroit, and the team was known as the Dead Wings. I actually saw more Toronto games due to the availability of CBC.
Played collegiate hockey (a very brief, undistinguished career cut short by injury), and boy do I feel it now, thirty years later.
Love the game, hate what they've done to the NHL through overexpansion, lockout, and failure to get a decent TV deal in the States.
College hockey is still the most exciting in-arena experience in sports.

Haha, well, Buffalo has been getting schooled in hockey and football forever. IROC, haha that's great and still true. Don't forget the heavy tan!
The Buffalo Braves left before my time, but they only went to the playoffs once. Anyway, go Bob McAdoo!!!
I'll be at the game on Saturday...great way to start our home opener...Isles vs. Buffalo. I'm predicting the Isles will lose as I will be in attendance and they have only won once when I show up.
I think the strongest team this year in terms of talent (it kills me to say this) is the Rangers. A lot of power and experience in those lines. However, there's saying that goes like this:
Talent wins games. Teamwork wins Championships.
The biggest weakness the Isles have is they tend to overhandle the puck instead of taking shots when the opportunity arises. They have great goaltending in DiPietro and Dubie, the acquisitions made during free agency adds depth and goal scoring to their lines, defense is strong and we got rid of that deadweight Yashin. The ownership (Charles Wang) is determined to spend whatever it takes to make us contenders again and bring the cup back to the island.

The Rangers...ahhh, Drury . I could care less about Briere, he wasn't thsat great in the playoffs and his name sounds like a type of cheese. I would have liked to see Drury stay, but management sucks in Buffalo.
I grew up on the west side of Michigan across the lake from Chicago. Got to watch the Blackhawks now and then, when the games were televised. Back then, they were good Hull, Mikita, Esposito, Cliff Coral. Now I live in the Detroit area, GO WINGS!!
