Andy --

Saw this on the link from your profile -- I was too tired to read it all but the site was pretty impressive. Good pic of the kid, too.

Thanks bud. It's what my sister calls "food porn" Smile It's mostly just a place where friends and family check in and keep up with the meals they are missing.

Hey Andy,

Great website...thoses dishes looked out of this world! Smile Just a quick question: Did you create those dishes yourself? Have you ever gone to cooking school?

Thanks Ladi,
Yup, most of them come out of having loved food for a long time, some inspiration from FoodTV and magazines like Gourmet and Food & Wine. And, no, never went to cooking school. I would have loved to. As I have posted before, I definitely would love to open a small "joint" in my later years. Who knows? With 3 kids and a mortgage, there are PLENTY of other items that take priority.

Hey Andy,
Yeah I can see how three kids can keep you busy...good luck with your dreams of owning your own "joint". I am just starting to get into cooking myself, which I am really enjoying...it seems to be a great stress outlet. I am not really that "domesticated" but I am starting to do most of the cooking now at my house. I've been watching a lot of Food Network, which is really getting me inspired Smile I haven't read any cooking magazines but I will look into some. And of course, I'll check in at your website to see what you've been cooking Smile

Hey Ladi,
There is a show on Sunday morning called "Wolfgang Puck's Cooking School" on Food TV that is very good and very informational. Alton Brown is also a friggin' encyclopedia of information and makes very interesting. He has a show on the network called "Good Eats". I tended to stay away from baking because that is more like chemistry than art. The cooking we do around here is much less "exact" than it is by feel - like most Italian cooking.
This weekend I'm gonna make homemade pasta for the first time, so we'll see how that comes out. If it stunk, it definitely won't appear on the website! Big Grin
Take care and have a good weekend!
Even as a Yankee Fan Wink

Where are these Pics Andy? Did I miss something?

Those are good shows Andy listed Lady77, Alton Brown is the perfect show(Good Eats) to watch for a begginer. Another one is food 911 with Tyler Florence, he makes some good stuff and its thing a beginner can make.

Wow, great pics Andy, and looks like delicious eats too. I can relate to the kids. If I didn't cook when my kids were growing up, would have starved. I married a woman that couldn't cook, and wouldn't admit that she couldn't.

The best meals cooked in kitchen are those that come out of imagination and trial and error. You start with a basic recipe and make it work from there.

If you ever do decide to open a restaurant, I'm there buddy...

Very nice web site Andy. Man it looks like you are ready to make the grand opening of the diner for real.

In my dreams, McNut... In my dreams!
It's more just a place to keep my family and friends updated and see pics of the kids.
Hope you're having a great weekend.

very nice website Andy!!!!! It looks like I could learn a thing or two from ya. The extent of my cooking is on the grill or smoker as a weekend hobbiest but that is about it!

The link's at Andy's profile.

Before I got married, I used to cook all the time. My wife liked my cooking and told me lots of it was better than hers. But she was able to get everything ready at once and I couldn't always do that very well. So I got out of the cooking habit, even though I enjoyed it a lot.

Now, she'd like me to do more and I'd like to cook more. Told her I'll start doing it on Saturday nites. (Wouldn't mind doing it more than that.) Main problem is that I forget about it until the last minute and then can't think of what to make that doesn't require time.
And I always liked to buy fresh meats and vegetables rather than using frozen stuff, which is mostly what we have now. (Always fresh salad, though.)

Any encouragement or motivation would be much appreciated.

Stoge It's in his profile.

Andy, Great site! I love the herb collection you have. I always buy them in pots and keep em outside in the summer but end up losing them in winter.
I also love the outside oven. Great work!

JimC,
I was born and raised in the Red Sox Nation myself and yup, you can only extend the season so much up there. That's another one of the reasons I like FL so much. I grow everything in containers on this screened porch I have. It keeps it nice and moderate in the summer, while allowing them to have enough light. Otherwise, you put stuff outside in the summer here and it goes to seed too quick. I tried basil outside for a couple of years in a row and it would bolt and go to seed - it seemed - overnight. Now, I can keep it going year round.

Plus, Stogemiester sent me all this hydroponics equipment that he uses to grow something for glaucoma patients in Texas, but my light bill went through the roof... Just kidding Wink

Big Grin Its grown in a liquid suspension. Big Grin

Thats a freaking awesome site Andy, I love the herb garden the most. I wish I had a place to keep my herbs, I mostly keep them on the porch but half of them get destroyed by the weather or stray dogs P!$$ing on them.

Oh and don't worry Andy...I will still visit your site even though your a Redsox fan Smile ...I do have friends that, for odd some reason, like the Sox...this past season was brutal for me...but I still had the guts to wear my Yankees hat with pride. Wink

Ladi, you are on the way! If nothing else, you'll learn some very practical stuff and get a whole bunch of inspiration as to what to try and cook. In my opinion, one of the best things about it is how much healthier and balanced you eat when you cook well for yourself. I am not sure who the typical American portion size is for, but it SURE isn't for people trying to keep the same clothing sizes for more than a couple of months. When you cook for yourself, instead of gaining weight, you'll lose AND you'll save money and usually feel a ton healthier to boot.
Damn, I sound like some infomercial... sorry.

As for my Red Sox... hey, I suffered 41 years hoping to see a World Series. I don't need or expect another any time soon. You Yanks can have another couple, if you like... Just let me bask in the afterglow of this last one!! Cool
