after many efforts, I finally landed some Japanese whisky.... I had been looking for a while for a Japanese whisky to try, and was gifted a bottle of Suntory 12 year old by a friend over the week-end ..

it is soooo tasty.. i drank it neat (which is very rare for a 12 year old)... no cigar though.. as my wife was sick, so we spared her the smoke..

anyone had it ??

the bottle is very nice too.. it screams ZEN.... I will post a pic of it tonight..

I've hear good things about Japanese Whiskey, I need to try some.

What would you compare the blended Suntory to? Crown?

i only had a dram, and it was really good.. very easy to drink, some fruits in th¸e nose.. a medium finish.. no peat at all...

unfortunatly, I wasn't too much into a tasting mode, so I won't go too much into details, but once I get to sample it properly, then I'll post a more complete review..

I believe this was the Japanese single malt they had at the last Vegas Big Smoke. Can't remember for sure, if it was then I really enjoyed it. Tipped the server a 10er and she filled me up nicely.

You are correct, they did pour this at the Big Smoke. Not the blend, but the single malt. I believe it was the 12-year-old.

It was quite tasty. I wish I had taken notes, but I do know that I enjoyed it...

Last night I went down to the local Lee's Discount Liquors and bought a bottle of the 12 yr old single malt.

Going to crack it open tonight and smoke it with a PSD4.

I enjoyed it very much! I have put it in my regular rotation. I'm not a real fan of throwing out flavors and such, but I'd liken it to an Irish single malt more than a single malt from Scotland.

How would compare Irish single malts to Scotch?

Irish single malts imo tend to be a bit smoother and lighter in flavor. Maybe because it's triple distilled, but I have no idea really.

I agree, Irish are softer/oilier. Scotch is sharper/smokier. Well.. the ones i've tried.
