Just got back from spending Christmas. Can't smoke in the Hotel Bar anymore. Shame. Had to go outside and smoke in front of the fireplace. Another one bites the dust.

Note: The smoke from the fireplace was coming inside the bldg. big time.

I have stayed at the Broadmoor four times now, and had trouble every stay. In my opinion, it is not worth the prices they charge. I no longer stay there.

I have a hard time understanding what's great about that place. The service is excellent, and so, for that matter, is the food at some of the restaurants - but the facilities themselves - all fake stucco - look like some suburban rec center. The place isn't particularly special or unique in terms of its landscaping either.

THen again, I'm not a golfer. Maybe that changes everything.

I go at Christmas because:
1. So my daughter in law can see her family in Colorado Springs.
2. Allows me to unwind from the year in somewhat nice surroundings.
3. I generally do not leave the grounds.
4. The food is very good.
5. Most of my family is there celebrating Christmas in a nice relaxed place.
6. We have been there the past five years without any problems.
7. But the smoking thing there sucks big time.
