Doc,
I enjoy a GG martini, extra dirty, with maytag stuffed olives. Have never tried gin...maybe I should change that.

I enjoy a vodka martini: up, extra-extra dry (a bottle of vermouth in the room is close enough), and a lemon twist. Ketel One is my vodka of choice. Interestingly, I've never had a cigar with a martini. I usually drink rum or beer with a smoke. I make awesome mojitos by the pitcher, but haven't been able to reduce the recipe to a single glass with as much success. Oh well, more is more!

Where do all of you rum folks find the rare stuff like Havana Club or Payat or Zaya? The state-run liquor stores here in NH carry the big names, and Barbancourt is the most exotic they have. Can any of the Boston members point me to a MA liqor store that carries exotic rums?

Keith

Kjed, you won't find Havana Club at any of the Boston stores, but Marty's in Newton, and maybe Martingetti's in the North End might have good rums like Pampero, Flor de Cana, and Zacapa.

Call them.

excellent recipe for extra, extra, extra dirty martinis:
3 jiggers of seawater, shaken, not stirred.
Inexpensive , because no vodka or gin needed - not necessary, since the flavor can't cut through the saltwater.

I like gin martinis. My gin of choice is Plymouth Gin. It is much smoother and more citrus that the other gins. It is a very balanced gin not overly done on the juniper berries.

I like martinis, Tangueray or Beefeater. I also like Stoly on the rocks, a nice small batch bourbon or a single malt. Ice cold beer is good too. I like all of it, just depends on my mood.
