I was glad I had only gotten a small bottle since any more would have just about gagged me. Oh, well, what did I expect for 10 bucks for about 1 glass.

hey $10 a glass is expensive man. to bad you didnt like it. Some champagne will say brut but it has alot of residual sugar witch makes it seem sweeter. still dry though.

I'm going to assume you mean Piper-Heidseck. This is served on American Airlines business class, which means it sucks...only partly kidding, but I think there are much better buys out there.

So that's why they have those little bottles. It was a complete waste of money. oh well. Thought it would be a convenient way to have one glass without having to open a big bottle and have it go flat on me since I'm not a big drinker. Glad i didn't buy more of them!
dont be descouraged by the little bottle. Many top notch champagne houses sell there wine in those bottles. You just got one you didnt like, keep trying new ones

But in the long term son....try to put it behind you. Its easier to change yourself than to change others. You'll learn that as you mature and accumulate a bit of wisdom.
In the meantime go to your little tastings and raise a pinky when tasting this week's agenda. Wine tasting, cigar savoring, gun collecting. All cultures of consumption. Easy to pick up. Easy to talk the talk. Easier if you have a bit of money to spend. Easy to project being a petty, self-righteous, pedantic, boring pseudo-expert. Got that?
If you prefer a dry wine, stick with the real stuff, sparkling wine from Champagne. Try Moet Brut Imperial, or Veuve Cliquot, both around $35-40 for a 750ml bottle.

Veuve Cli(c)quot is a joke.
cliquot is great. i like the reg line better than moet white star. and grande dame is the bomb!

I can understand Don Coyote's sentiments, VC is way over-hyped and every champagne novice thinks its the ne plus ultra of the bubbly. That's why its usually $35-40, and people pay it. In reality, I think it a good full bodied champagne, worth about $25 (a price I often see it at). It does lack the finesse of some others in that range, notably Pol Roger and Roederer. While were at it, IMO, Tattinger is crap, Bollinger doesn't do it for me, and Moet is plonk, even at $20.
The Grande Dame is real good, but for me, if you want a real high end champagne and are willing to spend $100, get Krug.
