I will be in the Chicago suburbs next week, and wondered if there were any cigar bars or the like still left. Will be in Vernon Hills, Glenview, Northbrook, and then near O'Hare. Thanks in advance,

In the city proper, the bar areas of restaurants and most bars can permit smoking until July 2008, unless a proposed Illinois ban goes through. Then it would all be nonsmoking as of January.

Cook County has a strict ban going into effect in March or April. But home-rule cities can do their own thing.

I don't know about the cities you mentioned, but Rosemont will continue to allow smoking in bars and restuarants. It opted out of Cook's ban.
