Last time I has it was in a Hawaiian recipe I tried. That was a few years ago. I remember it was spam and pineapple with rice and some other stuff. Pretty good, though you could probably substitute the spam with a quality ham product.

SPAM (SPiced hAM) is really good when it's sliced very thin and put in grilled cheese sandwiches.

There is NO substitute for SPAM. It's got a unique salty flavor and rubbery consistency nothing really compares. Sounds awful, but I love it. Still, can't have it very often, but when I do, it's an event! Big Grin

Early in the morning. Camping out in the woods. Cool, almost cold. Start a fire, get the frying pan hot. Open a can of Spam, slice it into half inch slices and throw them in the pan - no oil, Pam or other lubricant needed. Fry until scorched black on both sides. Wake up my sleepy head eight year old son for breakfast. Eat Spam slices out of the pan with my best bud as he snuggles up to keep warm. Memories.

LOL ... I used to slice spam often and eat it with mac and cheese while in college many years ago. I have not touched the stuff since. But after reading this thread ...
