the indedendent nation of Kalfornia not only is supposed to be smoke free but Now I find out that the making & serving of Foie Gras will becime a thing of the past in 2008, I get my FoieGras from a Farm in Kalifornia , for the unelightened FoieGras is the fattened Liver of Ducks or Gease that have been forced fed to make them Huge & fat , the liver gets HUGE & has a tase & color beyond the "liver" you knew as a kid growing up, unless you grew up in a 5 star Hotel kitchen . it is expensive, on the order of caviar, truffels, shark fins , Kolby Beef & swallows nests, Now I hear that Oregon is going to pass the same style of legeslation, they dont even make Foie Gras in Oregon ! I thought this was the land of the free , TO MANY DAMMMM LAWYERS & POLITICAL ASSEMBLYS, the Government wants to be in the bedromm , they want to be in the class room & now they want in the kitchen, WHEN WILL IT STOP?????
Enjoy, Vince

I just saw this a couple nights ago (I live in Oregon). A waste of time and tax dollars. Why they spending time and money even talking about this is beyond me. Our Portland School Board just voted to reduce the number of employees by 250 because of money issues, and we're spending money to stop restaraunts from serving f'ing fois gras! Not to stop the production in the state (I know, I know), but to merely stop serving it.

Go Beavs!

Theres a niche if I ever saw one. Who wants to start an underground foi gras ranch with me in oregon? Who is down? We can make a killing selling fatty livers.

What about Peking Duck?
Also force fed till it topples over from excess weight.
What???? The animal rights activists have not figured it out yet.

What do I think?

A little Perigord or Alsace foie gras on toast. Mmmmm. Good.
Peking Duck. Its a delicacy.

Quality does not occur by chance. It is the result of intelligent activities.

I (with some exceptions) stopped eating veal because of the way that calves are penned and force fed. On the other hand, I haven't done anything about it either. But I cant' get as excited about birds being force-fed.

Maybe the Pacific Coast will end up with laws that will require everyone to be vegetarians unless they can smuggle beef in from Arizona.
