So what wines/champagne do people drink on here? Im mainlya red wine person and prefer the old world. Rioja, Amarone being my favourite types, and if im going to drink champagne it would be Pol Roger or non vintage Krug as i prefer the taste but thats a personal choice.
Red Bordeaux. Typically petit chateau in great years, and cru classe in good years. Oregon pinot noir from 2006 have been a recent go to wine. Cotes du Rhone and Argie Malbecs are the house wines.
I like Pol Roger. Krug NV is a bit rich for me...

Dam! That's a question that will take a long answer...
Red wines, I'm not prejudiced. So, in no particular order: California zinfandels: Cardinal Zin (by Bonny Doon), St-Francis... CA others: St-Francis cab ; Liberty school syrah; Ca Del Solo charbonno; Terre Rouge mourvèdre; Raymond cab... French bordeaux: Haut-Médoc in general (St-Julien, St-Estèphe and Pessac-Leognan in particular), I always vary the vineyards - there are so many... Other French: mostly Rhône syrah based wines, and small southern vineyards (like Bandol) who use mostly mourvèdre... Italian Brunello di Montalcino: anything from Bruno Nardi; Italian chianti: I vary, but the Il Grigio is a staple... Other italians: Valpollicella classicos, Sicilian wines (very surprising)... Others: Chilean carmeneres (not the cheap ones); Australian syrah (not he cheap ones); tannats from Uruguay...
White wines: these days, I pine mostly for German rieslings, but the "kabinett" ones, which are dryest... I also enjoy rhône varietals from california and rieslings from Washington state...
Vin jaune (yellow wine), from Arbois, in France, is also a favorite, though I have it only rarely... Very particular wine...
Champagnes: definitely the Tainttinger or the Roederer, the regular, not the Cristal... I might add that the California Roederer is aslo very good, though it trades the characteristic "wet hay" champagne taste for something more citrusy...

My recent favorite has been a Trinchero "Lewelling" Cabernet Sauvignon 2002.
I found this one night with dinner at Capital Grille, unfortuanetly the last time I went there, they ran out of 2002 and only served a 2003 vintage. Very good but no match for the 02'

A couple excellent & reasonably priced reds. Joanin Becot Bordeaux 2005, Luigi Bosca Malbec Reserva 2005 (Argentina) As for Champaigne, if I want bubbly, I'm drinking dark beer.
My favorite wine is Tobin James Ballistic Zinfandel. I really like a spicy Zin and this hits the mark for me.

I am more of a Port guy...however I will drink a little with my wife and I use wines quite a bit in my cooking....Shiraz, Very Seco or a ncie crisp reisling
I like Sicilian wines...Canary Island wines...some of the smaller simplier wines like Barefoot and Oliver
My wife likes fruitier wines ....she wants to know which are sweeter (but not sherry or port) reds....? Does anyone have a list of sweetness...? you know where the list starts with the driest like Shiraz and ends in the sweetest like port....what falls in the middle? God love her, but she loves cheap Sangria ( I love a great Sangria) also wants to know if anyone has tried Moscato?
My wife and i are starting a new thign where every weekend we buy a bottle of wine ...the ones with all the crazy labels and names such as OOPS, Three Blind Moose, Gato Negro, Fat Bastard, Red Truck, Red Guitar, etc., etc....it seems to be all the rage now to have these wild names and labels....anyone else drinking these wines?

Mavrodaphne is a very nice sweet & inexpensive wine from Greece.
Gato Negro and Red Truck a few years ago. As well as others along these lines. I remember enjoying the Red Truck. I do not really remember the Gato Negro. Sounds like you and your wife will have alot of fun! I am really enjoying South American wines lately. Give on a try.

Wow! I have 2 cases pre-ordered (6 bottles each) of the 2006 Dominus Napa Valley Proprietary Red.
These are around $140/bottle now (you can beat that price, like just under $100, especially if you can buy a case) but will easily reach $500/bottle in the next 5-10 years. Get yours while you can.

Wow, this is a tough thread... I enjoy Chateauneuf du pape and St Emilion (when I'm in a spending mood). Clos du Val and Far Niente make some great Cabs. Alas, every week when I BBQ I dink ten buck malbecs, some Chilean Casillero del diablo Cab and ten buck spanish riojas, Toros or Jumillas. I had some fantstic Sicilian Colomba Platino white wine that knocked my boots off. I he also drunk some great greek and croation whites but did not save the corks to remind me of the name, I find these to be a good value. Oh yeah, Stags Leap Suavignon Blanc is my favorite suavignon.
