Matt, I agree, their coffee is really nice. One of my favorites.

I received the coffee from Cactus Creek and it was excellent, I will definitely be ordering again from them. I actually purchased the Ethiopian Longberry Harrar and it was a little more robust than the Yergechefe but overall it was one of the best coffees I've had. Thanks smokum for recomending their site.
Dont' sell yourself short Judge, you're a tremendous slouch!
I tend to think of flavored coffee the same as flavored cigars...not for me. Smoking a flavored cigar is always "off." I like coffee cause I like the flavor of coffee. Of course poorly grown, stored, ground, brewed coffee is like a poorly grown, stored, rolled cigar.
I like to buy whole beans and run them through the grinder right before brewing. Takes an extra 45 seconds to make...but the reward is real.

I'm glad you liked it, the owner is a great guy, and really knows his coffee...it's all we drink at home, and at the cigar shop...it's nice to go into his shop and smell the fresh roasted brew...

The prices on Cactus Creek are a bit too low. 7-8 bucks a pound for a quality roasterie is abnormally low. Where else do you guys buy beans from and how does it compare?
I mail-order whole bean coffe from Presto George in Pittsburgh -- it will be anywhere from $7 to $8 a lb. I like their Kenya AA, Tanzanian Peaberry, Ethiopian Harrar and will occassionally spend more ofr a lb of Kona Blend. I also order their peanut butter which is the best on earth -- ordering 3 or 4 lbs of each makes the shipping worth while.

dang sobek, i'll tell him to raise price to $12.00lb for you only, and us smart people will pay 7 to 8...just try the coffee before you comment...seems as if you're saying he's selling low grade or fake beans he's a friend of mine, has low overhead, and works hard to make a quality product...that's the going rate here, and that's his primary market, but i'll be sure to tell him what you think...

Where do you read a comment in my post? I was asking you guys for a comparison, if you had one. 7-8 bucks per pound is low, regardless of the quality.
So if it holds up to top rated roasteries then I would buy from them. But as a general rule, roasts that are given a fairly high cupping rating are typically in the 12-18 dollar range...and often that's not even for a full pound. So I'm skeptical.
I tried a few randomly listed coffee sources from here already...and to be quite honest, they were garbage. So I'd rather have a reference point at least, this time around. No offence to cactus creek intended.
Dr A, I'm with you. I have always liked coffee, but recently, a columbian friend got me into Cafe Bustelo. That stuff is amazing! that's all I drink now. especially now that I have an espresso maker.
Those of you who have never had a good espresso (with or without foamed milk) and a good full bodied smoke...DO IT, you'll thank us. Kick back with your favorite maduro and an espresso. That's the perfect smoke/drink combo IMO.
