Just looking for a little education and opinion from the group.

We recently acknowledged the second anniversary of Katrina and I noted several people in the news asking why the Government is dragging their feet in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the areas affected.

As a point of reference, I did a little research and found the following information. Current estimates show damages for various hurricanes as (the source doesn't state if these figures have been adjusted for inflation):

1989, Hugo, $7B
1992, Andrew, $30B
2005, Katrina, $81B
2005, Rita, $6B

Maybe my ignorance, but what responsibility lies with the federal Government and which portion lies with the state and local governments?

We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made.
