Red is the least expensive.

Black is smoother and a bit more costly.

Green is bit more expensive.

Gold is still more expensive

Blue is the most expensive.

As they get more expensive they get a little more age.

Altough none are single malts, I believe the Blue and Green are single barrel. Still a blend though.

How were you drinking it, try ice and just a little water (50/50) next time, or anyother mix. Please, no tap water!

All JW Scotches are regular blends with neutral spirits (grain alcohol added) EXCEPT for the Green which is a "vatted" malt containing simply a blend of Single Malts with NO grain neutral spirits added. Many believe that the characteristics of the Single Malts are more discernable in vatted malts. If you like a smokier, peatier Scotch, you may find the Green more palatable than the Gold at a lesser price.

how can a single barrel be a blend ? wouldnt a blend mean more than one which is contrary to single barrel ?

I would not go for the blue JW, for such a price you can get outstanding single malts. I tried the Blue a couple of times but it simply was not as good as a plain 10 year old Ardbeg which comes at a fraction of the price.

Altough from the Black Label up, they're acceptable blended scotches (similar to »Chivas Regal), I find the Red Label totally undrinkable.
I prefer a single malt anytime, even in the affordable category, like Glenlivet or Glenfiddich.

I must agree with Flashman. However I just tried Famous Grouse and found it tobe quite nice. Any comments on Famous Grouse?

In mu opinion, Famous Grouse is the best quality-price ratio in blended scotches. Makes you irk much less than JW Red Label.

Thank you Flashman. I think I'll add it to my cabinet as a good blend.
