The Chateau Frontenac is the best place in town. Its probably full.

I've stayed at the Loews le Concorde

Here a accomodationquebeccity list.

Places on Grande Allée, Vieux Québec are what you are looking for.

Auberges are smaller places that may have 5 to 20 rooms. I've stayed at three of them. All were very good.

Québec City is a small place. There are the gates, the Plaines D'Abraham, the lower city, Grande Allée., The Chateau Frontenac, the Funiculaire (cable car).

Just outside of the city are Montmorency Falls, Ste-Anne Falls, Ste-Anne de Beaupré Church, Ile d'Orléans.
A few hours downstream (that's north east) the Saguenay River (or fyord) meets the St Lawrence River at Tadoussac. The cliffs, sea and whale watching are impressive.

QM's suggestions are excellent. The Dominion 1912 Hotel is also very enjoyable. But do yourself a favor and enjoy some of the great restaurants there. My favorite is "La Grande table de Serge Bruyère". Don't forget to go visit the Île d'Orléans.
