If you're new to port, pick up a bottle of Fonseca Bin No. 27 (black/white label) from any major grocery chain that has a large wine selection. It's a good port for the price IMHO.

A good cigar and a good drink on the back deck by the lake...if that doesn't make you relax, nothing will!

I'm pretty new to port myself, started experimenting a few months ago. There is a thread titled, Port: take me to school, which has some good recommendations and helped me.

Go Beavs!

If you like tawny ports, try Cockburn's 10 or 20 year tawny.

GeeVee, The journey is the best part of finding Port. The Tawneys or Vintage Ports are my favorites. Buy a different one every month. Let us know what you like and don't like.
