OK. As suggested, I "found jamaica and noted a link to the official retailer for Jamaica, Habanoscaribe.com, went to the site and the "retailers" link is down. Hmmm.... This will sound naive, but where is the best place to go to get the real cuban cohibas? Also, if I bring back a box of 25 "cuban cohibas" from Jamaica that are likely counterfeits, will Customs confiscate them and/or fine me or something upon return to the US?
Why in God's name would you want to bring back fake Cohibas? If you insist on doing so, expect them to be confiscated. All they need to do is suspect they are real -- that includes cigars with no bands or boxes. If you spend $25,000 in legal fees and successfully prove they are fake, Customs will likely return them to you.

Oh yeah. Somehow I always forget there are a-holes who do this. I don't know why I always assume people on this board would only want authentic cigars to actually smoke and enjoy.

Thanx for the replies. Sorry, I should've explained, no, I certainly don't WANT fake cohibas. I posted the above in another thread. Hopefully this explains why I asked what likely happens if I get sold fakes. I meant, what if I unknowingly get sold fakes and try to bring 'em back to the US?
So, PJ, you got your answer, but you don't like it. OK. Take it from me. If you get to the beach, and see cigars that have a label that says Cohiba on it, RUN-AWAY.
Here's the irony in all this. Someone who comes here and asks the right question, and gets the right answer, doesn't believe it, goes on vacation, buys cigars he thinks are Cuban, comes back and tries to clear customs, but gets busted for cigars that aren't really even Cuban!! I suppose that you could raise the defense of "impossibility" (being that it's impossible to introduce contraband that isn't really contraband...and that there was no direct pecuniary gain to the Republic of Cuba by way of a financial transaction by a U.S. Citizen...and that, under the circumstances, there was no violation of any law), BUT, the facts remain that (a) the burden is on the traveler in all circumstances to prove no violation; (b) the traveler has knowledge of the fact that Cuban cigars are illegal in the US; (c) the traveler intended to commit a crime by buying and smuggling what he or she knew was contraband; (d) the traveler will have perjured himself or herself by way of the customs declaration where no such contraband is declared; and (e) there are no legitimate Cuban cigars in Jamaica, period! Best bet...there are daily flights out of Montego Bay to Havana. Take a little side trip.

For the record, the grass you speak of is illegal in Jamaica. The cops don't go hunting for everybody with a joint but possession of any quantity of it is against the law. Just some FYI because you do not want to see the inside of a Jamaican jail cell.
