Hey Mr. Zacapa...whats up with zaya? I've heard that is pretty good stuff too. Or pyrat? I'm not a huge rum drinker right now but I'm willing to learn.

never tried zacapa but I bet I would be disappointed. I'm assuming you mean 23 years and I guarantee its still pee compared to 18 year old scotch.

Good for you... I'll keep cleaning car parts with 18 year old scotch... blachhhhhh!!!

LOL! I like scotch and water, hold the scotch (BA doom, shhhh).

Zaya is from the same region as Zacapa... to me, it is a bit sweet, starts off a tad bit hotter and is not as refined as Zacapa... but it is pretty good... Only recently tried the Pyrat XO... very strong citrus, specifically orange, overtones... some single malt drinkers I know are fond of it...

Havana Club is awesome but hard to get in the US.

Barabancourt is great.

PUSSERS is good.

Apppleton Estate is great but not for the faint of heart. Bold & spicey.

Montecristo Rum very smooth sipping rum.

El Dorado is a very smooth flavorful rum.

BUt my all time favorite is any of the 3 Pyrat rums !!!

This is what is being gifted as special gifts and what is being looked for in Cuba.

I've seen it dark & light. Its 36% AVL I think. To smooth it out to drink straight I am told by Whitebeard an esteemed Cuban rum & cigar aficionado.

Have tons of rum and narrowing it down to one would be tuff.....so I'll name my top 3

Appleton 21
Zacapa 23
Flor de Cana 18

But there is this one rum (I have) that I have not yet tried that I'm saving! Why I'm not sure. I wish I could take a sip of it then re-seal.

Well, they sell HC 5 at almost any store here in Spain. It exists.

HC 5 years? They make HC3 and HC7 but I am unaware of an HC5.

HC5 is that the Añejo Especial?

There is also a HC15 rum. But that can cost upwards of $300 and can be very hard to find at times!

The HC website does not show an HC5, but if you guys say so . . . I am not an authority on the stuff -- I just like to drink it when I can.

This is not something I'm recommending for a smoke, just passing along a thought...
Some of you may feel that it's sacrilege to even mention flavored rums just like flavored cigars and, in general, I'm with you on that. However, try Bacardi Orange. It'll make one of the best damned Cuba Libres you've ever had!

Pritchards Fine Rum. Made right here in Tennessee, about 10 miles from Jack Daniels.

Appleton Estate. A friend bought a bottle back for me from Jamiaca. I was blown away. Great over ice or with coke.
