Now that i've seen a definite growth in high end tequila I was curious as to what people think of pairing a good tequila with cigars, I'm not sure but I would think the sweetness wouldn't go well.

I love tequila and I have a bottle of Don Julio Anejo that I got for my birthday. I have not paired it yet, but I will soon. I hope its good because tequila is the only liquor I have drank straight.

I've never paired a tequila with a cigar, but I don't think it is impossible...i just always take gin, scotch or beer over it.

i frequently pair tequila with a cigar. If you are going to do this, i recommend an Anejo grade tequila neat. My current favorite brand is Trago. It is reasonably affordable for an anejo IMO.

I Tried it for the first time a couple of weeks ago, at a friends house, Jose Cuervo Millenium and a RP Old world Reserve...Not bad I must say, neither one overpowered the other, the tequila wasn't overly sweet on the palette but had more sweet notes in the bouquet...It was actually a nice contrast to the cigar...

let's just say that after "the incident", I was never able to drink the striff again... for years, just the smell of tequila made me gag

I've always liked Cabo Wabo Tequilla. I think it pairs well with something like a VSG or Camacho.

Have not paired the two either, but a friend gave me a bottle of Herr-adura Anejo. Have not opened it, but when I do I will have a fine smoke nearby.

Yeah I haven't since my 21'st birthday. My brother bought me a double tequila with orange juice, which I couldn't stand. I got so drunk I thought it would be a good idea to pour the half of that was left with the last half of my guinness together and slam it. 15 min later I puked all over the table Eek Since then the only tequila drink I can stand is a Long Island which has so much other stuff in it you can't taste the tequila.

tequila works well with cigars that have a nutty profile. I usually go for por larranaga petit coronas with tequila and lime. delicioso!
