I picked up a bottle a day ago and am really impressed with the oily smoothness and denseness of the flavours of this bourbon. A really long finish and zero harshness of say a Knob Creek. 94/95 in my books. Anyone else try this great bourbon?

What do Canadians know about bourbon?(joking)

Never had the newer single barrel, have had the old 101 which I've read is close to it. IMO, the 101 can't hold a candle to any RVW. Old Weller Antique is as good as inexpensive bourbon gets.

I agree, as this is US based drink. But hey someone has to promote this spirit. RVW is so rare in Canada it is not funny. Had 4 bottles of the 12 yo. Long gone, and damn fine. I have a friend who works on Wall street, so I am putting in a request for RVW 23 yo.

It's Eagle Rare, by the way.

Good Bourbon, but I feel that it doesn't distinguish itself much from the 10 year.

I'd spend my money on a different Buffalo Trace product: George T. Stagg.

I stand corrected. Claims it is 10 yo.

What I meant was that there's a 10 year old, and a 17 year old, and to my tastes, the 17 year old doesn't merit the extra $30-40 extra in price over the 10 year. Well, at least in the past: truthfully, I haven't tried this years' release, so I could be dead wrong. Big Grin

Both are pretty damn good though.

Steve, these are the first posts from cromag where he actually knows something on what he's talking about.

IMO bourbon peaks at 7 to 10 years of age. I had a bottle of high age RVW once and the oak overpowers the beautiful notes of the bourbon. It's a waste.

If you can't find any Old Weller Antique on your own, give me an email. Can you buy off the internet in Canada?

Canadian laws are really strict, so you cannot purchase spirits off the internet and import them in Canada.

Even if I purchased the bottle and had it sent to your residence for repacking and shipping to Canada, customs would just feel the weight of the package and open it up. Then good by bourbon.

Seems as though there's a need for reverse bootlegging. Big Grin I can see it now, gangsters running bourbon from Detroit or Chicago into Canada.
