Have you tried the Penfolds mentioned above?

For the buck my wine is the best deal. I make 200 gallons for around 1200 dollars. It works out too about a dollar 30 a bottle. It is big wine that gets you where you want to go fast.

One more to add... Chateau Montet has a nice cheap and fresh Bordeaux Sauvignon.

I second Penfold's (Hyland(?) Shiraz), Ravenswood (Zin and Cab, vintner's blend is great for the $, too), Jacob's Creek (any, but the reserve line is even better), Rosemount (diamond label Shiraz and Riesling).

Haven't seen anyone comment on Bogle yet. I like the Old Vine Zin and Petit Syrah. Also, Spy Valley's Sauvignon Blanc is really good. There used to be a pretty good dry Gewurtztraminer available around here, but it is now gone and I can't remember the name. I want to say it was from Washington....

I like all of those above and they all retail for about $7-$14. I am by no means an expert, I just really enjoy wine with meals and have found these to be great for that purpose.

Mr. S,

I've tried Bogle's Merlot... not impressed, but then it was a Merlot (which rarely impresses me). I'll try the others varietals, though!

TM, can't help you on NorCar shops, but you're probably a Tar Heel annyway, so why should a Gamecock help Big Grin.

But I can offer another wine. Had a Justin 2002 Cab Sav the other night. One of the best Cal cabs I've had in a long time and was only $16 (in NJ). I so only, because it tasted like a $30 wine. Worth checking out.

Tony,

The Total Wine in Raleigh has it... it was under the Spain section...

the Berberana is a good substitute for the borsao if you can't find it. They have it on sale this week. a dollar off, so it $4.99!!!

Bumpity-bump.

Also, pretty much anything from Georges de Beouf is pretty great at whatever price!
