In San Diego it would be at Bronx Pizza. The Tomato & Garlic pie is the best. If anyone in Portland, Or. could direct me to the best pies I would be tvery thankful!

Dalghety's the Bakers in Galashiels. Excellent minced lamb in typical scotch pie pastry crust.
Todd's the Bakers, which is no longer running, also had very good pies. A little too much pepper for some tastes. My family always had these on a Saturday lunch time with potatoes, peas and gravy. I remember the transition from boyt to man - the day I was given two pies for lunch.
Pies at Tynecastle Park football ground, where you needed to get a bit out of the crust, then with a quick wrist flict, get the pie away from your body so as the grease can drip onto the groubd. Great to soak up the 5 pints of beer you put away the hour before the game started.
Ah memories .....

Owen-Thanks for the memory flash. While living in England for awhile, I really enjoyed the pork pies and the steak and kidney pies. Most of the pies we ate were purchased from butcher shops and made on premise. Wish they made them here.

As far as "chain" pie goes, Toppers Pizza is my favorite. Any of the special pizzas are great. I myself being Italian, have always loved homemade Napoli Pizza. There was a good thread about Napoli Pizza a few weeks ago, I believe in cigar talk. Check it out if you're interested.
PS There's a little mom&pop pizzaria near my house called Pizza Nostra that makes some good pies an Calzones.

motorcyclenut; If you ever come down to Daytona for Bike Week or Biktoberfest...The Fox Inn in South Daytona Beach, (on HW1 just south of the 41 overpass) is run by a couple of expatriate Brits....Guiness and Harp on draft, and they make one of the best Steak and Kidney pies on this side of the Atlantic. Check 'em out if your'e down here.
As for Pizza...the best is my wife's homemade...she makes the dough the day before, we use fresh sausage and homemade pepperoni, etc and we bake it on a big round pizza stone...better than any I've had anywhere. I'm a happy camper.

Rbihari - Thanks for the info. Sounds like a good place to eat and drink well.
