I got lots of good advice and to whether or not they are gourmets, I will never know! I bought the champagne like was suggested and only 3 out 10 people were gagging. That makes it gourmet, doesn't it. I have, however, become a trappist ale junkie due to their advice.
Im surprised nobody has mentioned Cava. We couldn't afford to by any decent champagne for our wedding since we went through 3 cases. So we served crystallino. Its really pretty good especially for the price.
Oh yeah, and forget about Don Coyote. He is a tactless arrogant prick.

I posted a thread about spanish Cava but it is awaiting approval. So basically its never gonna get posted. Before my wedding I figured I was gonna go broke buying champagne since we needed 3 cases. We went with crystallino instead. Its really not bad stuff. Just don't call it champagne or DC is likely to get his panties in a wad.

That is all
Ah. The big NOT from the big DRE. The capital letters have swayed my train of thought. I cower in submission.
Champagnes do not taste pretty much the same. Some taste like borscht while others taste like Bazooka bubble gum. The are dissimmilar to the extreme. Especially when mixed with orange juice or tang which tends to mask the rest,
RELAX.
Its cigars that taste pretty much the same.
QM Quality does not occur by chance. It is the result of intelligent activities.

Fred Sanford's favorite: CHAMPIPPLE. Champale + Ripple. Now THAT'S a cocktail.

I liked the Vivue Cliquot sp? that dre recommended in the brut. But there were a few who poo pooed it. I liked it and thought it was fresh, dry, clean, good.
its the Montecristo of champagne...people crap on it because its popular...and especially popular with newbees. now i'm not saying its the best, but its very good.

Anyone have any insights into Nicolas Feuillette champagne? It's relatively inexpensive here and I remember it being good the last time I had it (a while ago).

NF is a good, relatively light $20 Champagne. Would not spend more that $22 for it. VC is a good, full bodied Champagne. At $30+, its expensive, IMO. You can find it at times for $25-28. Louis Roderer at same price is better, also full bodied. Pol Roger is a medium bodied STEAL at $25. Their vintage Rose is also damn good, but $60. Laurent Perrier Rose NV at $50 is very nice.
