I had always enjoyed Glenmorangie's Port & Madiera finishes, but was a bit hesitant about this one since I'm not a red wine drinker and was afraid the tannins might make it bitter. I finally picked up a bottle on a whim and was very pleasantly surprised. Smooth as silk, sweet, comlpex, reminds me a bit of the mighty Mac 18 at a fraction of the now-exorbitant cost. May even reduce cholesterol. Highly recommmended for all but Talisker fans.

I was told to hold off on the port wood finish because the wine-like flavors overpower it. What do you think?

I just pulled the cork on a bottle of the Madera wood finished Glenmorange , nice stuff, but I havent found to many single malts that I dont like, from the lightest to the smokey & heavy Laphroiag
I like them all ! Enjoy, Vince

the port wood does not overpower, but does add a subtle sweetness..perfect desset whisky and goes well with rich cigars.

stone, you think the burgundy is close to mac 18? that would be interesting...especially since mac is instituting another price increase shortly. first cuba raises prices and now whisky...i'll be smoking Dorals and drinking 40s soon if this keeps up!!!
