Help! Are there any places in London left to smoke. I always made a point of stopping at Dunhill to smoke, now it's no more because of the smoking ban. Anybody know if there is someplace left to smoke there??? Thanks

I thought I read cigar stores that make the bulk of their revenue from tobacco sales could permit cigar sampling-- but no booze?

There is an LCDH in Soho that allows smoking and has a bar, at least it did in Feb.

I just telephoned LCDH, London and they have in fact confrmed that you can go into their store and purhcase a cigar 'for sampling' and smoke it in their bar so that sounds to me like there is still a place in London where you can smoke a stick and have a drink! I will definately be there this week! For a guy from New York City living in London this will be a real treat! It will make me forget about having to pay $8.80 a gallon for gasoline! Smile

Hank, let us know what the hours of operation are, please. It's nice to know there's still someplace in London town to have a smoke indoors.

I would like to know as well.. When I was there in October, I never could find a place. Frustrated the hell out of me.

Boisdales of Belgravia looks like a very nice place. I haven't been there myself but it's a very popular haunt with local cigar smokers. The owner is a big fan of Havanas.
It's a restaurant/bar so no smoking indoors however they have a heated, covered cigar terrace.

The LDCH does, the Langham does not. I suspect none of the hotels or restaurants allow smoking inside. Many pubs have heated outdoor areas.

After checking with my London source, the places listed above now offer some sort of comfortable outdoor smoking venue as a result of the UK ban going into effect. He mentioned that the LCdH falls under the exemption of being a Habanos specialist shop, which is why they continue to allow indoor smoking. Build a cigar shop inside a club and still get the exemption, sounds like a new business model!

The exemption to the law is if a business main income is from tobacco sales they can allow you to smoke a sample this only aplies to cigars or pipe tobacco.
The LCDH in London allows smoking but not in the bar/restaurant attached to it which is a shame cos its a bloody good resteraunt.

One fewer reason to go back to London, I'm afraid.

And now Bavaria is in on the act. Imagine. No smoking in Germany.
