Anybody out here in the west heading to the Sierras in California for the trout season opener this weekend? It's a pretty big traditon for a lot of people. Even though this will be my 22nd year fishing the Sierras, I have never been there for opening weekend, the crowds don't appeal to me. Me personally, I like to go up after Labor Day, when all the summer crowds are gone. Good luck if any of you guys are heading up there this weekend.

Hey JMurillo, good luck fishing. I go to Mammoth during the summer on occasion to get away. I'm not big on snow skiing (nothing wrong with it, just never got into it), but the Sierras in the late spring and early summer is absolutely beautiful. Clean air, nice people, greenery galore. Even if the fishing is sub-par, getting onto the lakes and rivers will be worth the trip. Enjoy!
