I was in the local liquor store, browsing over the single malts when the owner asked if I wanted to taste something he just got in. He poured me some scotch over ice and let me try it. It was excellent. It reminded me of blue label, so I asked him if it was a blended scotch. He gave me the 'I'm impressed' look and said yes. Truth be known it was more of a guess than anything else. It is not peaty at all, but sometimes I'm in the mood for peaty scotch and sometimes not. It is made from single malts from the villages of Eglin, Longmorn, and Ballindaloch, and single grain whisky from Fife. It's got a light oakyness and sweetness to it. It's perfect for when you are not in the mood for a heavy scotch. Now, JW Blue is an Islay blend, but it doesnt really taste like Islay single malts IMHO.
The name of this whisky is 'Asyla'. And it's made by the Compass Box Whisky Company. Here is the url: Asyla Scotch
The best part is, it was only 45 bucks! This is going to be a regular addition to my bar.
