Saxon:

I hate to disagree, but I was underwhelmed with LG's....they have/had one here in San Diego and I have never been back...the ONLY steakhouse I endorse on the entire West Coast is the Metropolitan Grill in Seattle.

Hold On Roy!

Try Mastro's in Los Angeles. www.mastrossteakhouse.com
Very good steak around Rodeo Drive. Pretty pricey but worth it. I can concur on Old Homestead in the meat packing district Manhattan. Also, try Kraftsteak in NY - also in the meat packing district. Wolfgangs in NY is also a great substitute in the city for Peter Lugers. Wolfgang is a former long-time waiter at Peter Lugers. The menu is virtually identical to Lugers and the beef is the same. Gallaghers on 56th street Manhatton also serves up pretty nice dry aged beef, but it has gone down in the past few years.

Do they sell Dry Aged Beef?

Yes and you can cut it with a fork!

I tried Mastro's in BH....not bad but they saturate it in so much butter (my steak almost had a microwave buttered popcorn flavor to it) and the sides were completely doused in an extra dose of artery clogging additives....the home fries at Luger and the creamed spinach do not overwhelm the steak as much as the sides at Mastro's do. I prefer Mastro's for cougar hunting.

When I mentioned West Coast, I was only referring to the Coast--I do get to Texas a couple of times a year and usually find great steaks in Dallas (Three Forks, Al Biernat, or Del Frisco.....I would pass on Bob's, though).

I ate at the Morton's in Buckhead here in ATL and wasn't too impressed.

There was a long wait so we opted to sit at the bar area. We still waited a good bit for food or even before we were greeted. Despite sitting at the bar area our drink orders were not taken which I thought was funny since they should be falling over themselves to push drinks on us. Being in the restaurant business I know they make a killing on that over priced glass of house wine and liqour. I like my steak medium rare and my gf medium but mine came grey and pretty much done all the way through. When they brought back another one it wasn't seasoned and it looked like they reheated a steak or something because it did not have the seared crust flavor. Oh yeah when we got our salad we were never offered cracked black pepper but the table behind us were but I'm ok with that since I didn't want it anyways. All in all a disappointing night.

I tipped the waitress a measly 15% and wrote on my receipt my concerns along with my number in case the management wanted to call and discuss. Surprisingly the gm called me that night and then the following day. He apologized and said there was a conference in town and they were short staffed. He then took down my address and mailed me a gift certificate for $100. I still do not like the food but I appreciate his efforts in making things right. I think I'll give that certificate to a friend perhaps they might enjoy it more than I would.

Morton's, though not at the top of my list, does provide excellent customer service and will make it up to you in the form of the gift certificate you noted when you let them know you were displeased with your experience.

I have been to the Mortons in hartford and was pleased with the experience. Service was excellent and the food was outstanding. mIt was also the onkly resturant open on a Sunday evening in the area. I would go back again.

I went to the Morton's in Arlington VA a few years ago and it was a fabulous meal. Service was fantastic...and atmosphere was wonderful. I would definitely go there again.

I was having a dinner with my boss at the time and to this day whenever we speak we always joke that we need to go back to Morton's for more steak.

I would deffinetly tell them about your experience. The mortons I had experienced here in Indy would surely make it right, at least dinner on the house.

I have also had good experiences at the Morton's here in Indy...
