Now I am no way experienced with Rum but I do like it. I picked up this bottle of Pyrat Rum XO Reserve. I'm shocked at how smooth this is straight off the rocks. Sweet fruit\wood flavors are present right away. It's 80 proof but it doesn't bite at your throat at all. I wouldn't mix it with Cola b\c it's already too sweet. A splash of Dr Pepper maybe, but it's probably best on the rocks with a lime. Check it out...
Definately a rum that is for sipping by itself..... I have a friend that drinks this almost every night with his cigar. A little too pricey for me to do that, but it is an awesome rum..........

I also like El Dorado 12yr old and 15yr old for sipping, Tommy Bahama Dark for mixing and the Light for Mojito's. Vizcaya VXOP is outstanding also as is Ron Matusalem 15 yr old. British Navy's Pussers rum is another very good rum.
I used to drink Captain Morgans all the time but since I learned about all the top tier rums, that is what I drink now.
