Now I am no way experienced with Rum but I do like it.
I picked up this bottle of Pyrat Rum XO Reserve.
I'm shocked at how smooth this is straight off the rocks.
Sweet fruit\wood flavors are present right away. It's 80 proof but it doesn't bite at your throat at all.
I wouldn't mix it with Cola b\c it's already too sweet. A splash of Dr Pepper maybe, but it's probably best on the rocks with a lime.
Check it out...

Definately a rum that is for sipping by itself.....
I have a friend that drinks this almost every night with his cigar. A little too pricey for me to do that, but it is an awesome rum..........

YES! It's absolutely delicious. I can't begin to describe how much I like this stuff. It's better than my usual go-to rum, Sailor Jerry's.

How dare you have a thread on rum and not include me!!!
I AM the rum God...

Pyrat is a really fine rum...I say "fine" to mean refined and smooth. Delicate. Wonderful rum.

Straight or with a small lime...I even threw in a small slice of mango in it and the flavors were phenom.

Yes sir...you spent your money well..you will be surprised how many ciagrs pair well with a fine rum.

GONZO !!!

Pyrat XO is a great rum.

I also like El Dorado 12yr old and 15yr old for sipping, Tommy Bahama Dark for mixing and the Light for Mojito's. Vizcaya VXOP is outstanding also as is Ron Matusalem 15 yr old. British Navy's Pussers rum is another very good rum.

I used to drink Captain Morgans all the time but since I learned about all the top tier rums, that is what I drink now.
