This is done. Booked Punta Cana Iberostar grand Hotel Bravaro. My travel agent called and said it was time to make a decision because everybody was calling in to re-book mexico trips and I would soon find myself in a tuff spot. I had to act fast and make a decision so I did.
Unless there is a LCDH that I haven't found out about. I will have to bring my own. Which creates a new issue.

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptuals.

When you go to Mexico take the following precautions.

1-Stay away from anyone who is obviously sick with coughing, sneezing or nasal catarrh.

2-Drink only bottled water and use bottled water when brushing your teeth.

3- It is OK to eat hot food but try to avoid salads or cold food that may have been sitting around such as a salad bar.

4- WASH YOUR HANDS or use hand sanitizer especially after touching things like door knobs or telephones.

5-Alcohol is ok, in fact fully approved.

6- You and your new wife should shower several times a day and conserve water. Wink Wink

Hey doc,
Thanks for the great advice. We were going to have a doctors appointment this week to see if there were any shots or meds we should take before going. Is this just over kill or even recommended. The state department put this thought in my head that we need all these shots and meds as if we are going to the amazon.

Also with watching what we eat I love a good cerviche. Is it recomended to stay away from this or would the citrus acids kill anything that could harm my tummy?

My fiancee and I are plannin on heading to the same area relatively soon. We went in and talked to the travel agent today and he told us that any trips post May 12th or so should be fine. According to him it seems as if by then they should have it contained enough.

Lets hope.

I may have to eat my words and modify my advice.

I heard today that the CDC has advised AGAINST unnecessary travel to Mexico until this pandemic has cleared.

Of course if you can't get a refund from your hotel I would call it a necessary trip.

As for Cerviche, I would hope that with enough lemon and lime juice and salt, nothing could live in that.

Just wash it down with a lot of Tequila.

Sorry but, why take the chance? Just speaking for myself, but if I was going to take my wife somewhere, I'd want it to be memorable. Not memorable because we have to worry the whole time we are down there wondering if that person next to us who just coughed infected us. This will most likely preoccupy your mind most of the time you are supposed to be having a good time together. People down there are literally dying, not to mention many say that Mexico is on the verge of collapse. What are the odds that something will happen when you are down there? Who knows, but is it worth risking your honeymoon or even you and your future wife's health?

I tend to agree. I know for a fact that my girlfriend would be constantly worried about contracting the flu.

The Dominican Republic is a beautiful place. You will definitely enjoy it. I would've chosen it over Mexico anyways. Good call.
