I am normally a beer drinker myself, but i have been craving a good gin and tonic myself for a couple of weeks. I guess i will have to break down and buy a bottle, because my local taverns do not carry beefeaters, Tanqueray, or Bombay, and finding a fresh lime can be tough too.

At some point I'll start to desire gin over bourbon, but it hasn't happened yet.

why?? Even in the summer I drink whisky, usually Jameson on the rocks. Jameson is nice, has a bit of sweetness to it, not to expensive, ideal for a summer drink. If I am on white spirits then nothing better than a GnT with Tanqueray.

Tequila and tonic with a fresh lime for me or, if I'm feeling particularly civilized, a Pims Cup.

Dark rum is always in season in our household. Never acquired a taste for gin, but to each his own.

Seasons for alcohol? Not for me. Whatever I fancy, whenever. A cold beer on the porch in December. Gentleman Jack neat in July. Port anytime.
Like chosing a cigar -- there's no right or wrong, no season. If it fits the mood, it's the right time and place. Just no dog rockets or rotgut.

I will drink scotch/Whisky right through the summer months.
Probably more during the evening hours. However a Jack on the Rocks under the hot sun is tough to beat.

Tell ya what, Doc...I was leaning in that direction myself but I read this article in the NY Times on homemade ginger ale cocktails...

Tanqueray

hey docbarry,

i always use club soda instead of anything flavored as to not compete with the distictive taste of the Tanqueray

as for the "brown season" deadline, if you ever try RON MATUSALEM classico RUM you may change your timeline

anyway be well
