In two weeks, we're doing a 7 day cruise in the Caribbean. We're going to Cozumel, Belize City, Roatan (Honduras), and Costa Maya. Any good places to get cigars at any of these locations. If so, is it worth it to buy cigars there or should I just bring my own from the U.S.? Thanks for the help.

There will be guys selling Cohibas all over the place and not a one will be a real Cohiba.

I have been to all of the ports you mention and it would be best if you bring your own cigars

I agree with the Doc, dont even trust the stores with the Dominican cigars. Do yourself a favor and bring your own cigars.

I've been a few times on a cruise and there will be many more fakes than real cubans at the tourist shops. Try to find a good vendor before you go by searching the forums and learn what to look for in a fake stogie

Thanks for the responses? What about non-Cuban cigars? Can you get any good ones or good prices at any of those destinations?

When you first arrive at most the ports its insane with people selling liquor, cigars, medicine and mexican souveniors.

I don't know of any shops by name. NC's are pretty common too and not as many fakes as the cubans. All the Americans come to port asking for cubans and Absynthe (Both illegal in US). Both of those are in high demand and the highest percentage of fakes exist for the stupid tourist.

In Mexico you can get anything you want, but it will be counterfeit (Except for what the ladies of the evening are giving away, that will be genuine).

Yep majority if not all shops at the ports sell fakes, they are called tourist traps. I always bring my own cigars then I'm not disappointed.

Well, I just got back today. Like I said, we went to Costa Maya, Belize City, Roatan Honduras, and Cozumel. Several of these places had "Havana Club" shops which sold "Cubans". The cruise director swore that these shops carried guaranteed Cuban cigars. First, the prices were outrageous and most of the labels looked poorly faked. The "Cohibas" looked the best, but they still looked fishy. I did buy one of them for the novelty of it. If it WAS a real Cuban, then frankly, I don't know what all the fuss is about, because it wasn't all that great. Anyway, just thought I would give an update. Thanks for everyone's help. Feedback is still appreciated.
