JB Black is respectable but there's something about that line that does not impress me. Too smokey? I'd rather drink Bookers and have it uncut by anything. The white label is too young and must take a mixer IMO.
Jim Beam staight up. Sipped slowly to warm you up on cold winter nights. I agree though on the smokey somewhat charcol flavor. Not realy a favorite of mine but will drink it if it's there.
Frankly, I don't care for Jim Beam, with or without anything. I've tried a few times years ago, didn't like it. Then somebody gave me bottle, which I couldn't drink a dram, so I gave it to my wife for adding in things she cooks - like pastries, sauces, meat, etc. I was glad when she finally finished it two year ago or so.
